hey what’s up guys! I hope you all are doing amazing! Today is currently Friday October 9th 2020 on a cloudy morning.

I just wanted to give you guys an update on what i’m doing! How i’m doing, and how the first month was!!

On September 2nd my squad and I arrived on the AIM( adventures in missions) campus. We arrived with our HUGE daypacks and our packs. Meaning every. single. thing. From tents to clothes and hammocks. I remember being so excited but very nervous in a way. I kept saying I had no expectations.Which is true I really did not know what I was getting myself into. But i really just figured it was going to be like all fun, hanging out all the time. Which is true we do have fun and hangout. But throughout this month I also realized how much I value me time and quite time. The first three weeks was so in a way, draining. I realized I did not spend anytime for myself and was constantly moving where people where going. Which at the time I didn’t know I was causing myself not to process everything I was going through with sessions but also just in general. I mean this is a big thing i committed to! With that being said,, I ended up having many crying sessions and just going throughout the day of me being frustrated. There was this one time I was in line to get chicken alfredo and ended up leaving the line running away crying and having my beautiful team leader help me walk through what i was going through. Another time one of my squad mates asked me for salt and i once again ran away crying..Thankfully I had the lovely Bern help me and walk me through what im going through and what is going on in my head.As well as helping me answer the hard questions. With that being said I have learned to let my team and my squad mates in on how i’m feeling, telling them I would like to be alone or just need to not talk.Or even just telling them how they can love me better and make me feel heard..

Now onto my team! Team Barefeet! I’m sure for those who are reading are probably like uh.. WHAT. ahahah we thought the same way when our team leader lauren brought it up! I remember we were all sitting together and I asked if we could pray on what the Lord was saying and also praying for our team. Lauren brought up and said that the Lord was bringing the word Barefeet to her. We were very confused but decided to look it up in the bible. We also realized everytime we got into team time. Our team was ALWAYS barefoot. We quickly realized that in our team we want to be comfortable and safe. Make the environment were in feel safe and as if were at home. The bible verses we found as well were Exodus 3:5. Holy ground!! The people in my beautiful team is. Ms Esther Marques. Esther and I go way back to February where we met at Passion City Church. Little did we know at the time we’d be in the same team! Esthers hugs are the best as well she knows how to light up any room. Then we have Ms. Sidney Key. Sidney is from California and is the kindest person and has the kindest heart. She always checks up on you and makes you smile. Then we have Ms. Gracie Brown. The lady with many smart things to say and a lady that’s full of joy. She is amazing, truly. Then we have Abba Ritter! WOW a women of pure joy. She is so wise and intelligent. She knows how to have a party but ask the deep and real questions. Then we have Karly Barlow! Another women of wise words. She is one of the kindest people I have met and who is filled with amazing ideas. Then we have Lauren Kobe. Jeez louise! Where do I start?! She is beautiful inside and out. She’s a women of kindest. She always care for others,, as well she’s our team leader!! Lauren is the girl I can go to when i’m down,, need a hug,, need to laugh. She always is here to check up on me. And that’s team barefeet!

  1. Gabby!

That sounds like you are having both a fun time and a GROWING experience that you will remecer for a lifetime.

Your post inspired me to share of one of my favorite mantras with you: “there is no comfort in the growth zone and no growth In the comfort zone.”

Keeping pushing those limits and enjoy every moment of this once in a lifetime opportunity.
